The lanscape starts where the body ends - a dual exhibition with Alexi Hauru
Galleria Kuu-si, 4-13.9.2026

We are who we are with, and we are where we are.
The landscape starts where we end.
Is the horizon a limit? Does it bind us to our close surroundings? The horizon is not a line that separates earth from sky, just as a person is not bound together by a contour. When two bodies touch, a line forms where they meet. Where two lines meet, an infinite regress. The impossibility of an occurrence in space. The horizons of two bodies become valleys, canyons. Valleys and canyons emerge as persons.
Is the horizon disrupted by a mountain? Or does it go around it?
A solid figure, flesh, bones and mind, meets another solid figure, flesh, bones and mind. An interaction births a relationship. A relationship is something in-between, shifting, elusive. Suddenly the figures are untenable. They were never really solid, a prototype doesn’t exist.
A group in a landscape births tension because the landscape is part of the group.
‘Being’ discloses itself between objects and space, people and place.

In the endlessness of the horizon, what induces interaction-connection-tension? In both Somos’ and Hauru’s works, beings co-emmerge and mingle with each other. Distinction and dissolution are no longer clear terms, and yet through this entanglement, worlds within spaces come to life. The conflict between defined boundaries and fluid integration begs the question: from which vantage point should people and places be seen?

ALEXI HAURU is an artist based in Helsinki, Finland working with drawing, painting and printmaking. Hauru uses formal grid like structures alongside organic, animistic depictions of landscapes. Her works describe the dualism of clarity and chaos found in relationships between the modern person and their encounters with nature.
NÓRA SOMOS imagines and paints figurative scenes in bold, bright colours. In her work, stories of the human condition are told by bodies, movement, and interactions. She is a Helsinki based, Hungarian visual artist, working mainly with oil colours and drawing.
